We strongly advise all prospective college applicants to purchase, at a minimum, 10 Real SATs from the College Board. (It is the first book listed below.) We know from our own experiences that there is a difference between the official questions you will be asked on the exam and the practice questions contained in all other books.
If you feel particularly weak in a particular area of the SAT, then we strongly encourage you to consider one of the following books from a test prep company for additional help as well as practice questions and answers.

10 Real SATs (2nd Edition) This is the "grand daddy" of all SAT* prep books and it is the only one to include actual questions from previous exams. Some of the questions are pre 1995, and therefore a bit obsolete, but it is still worth every penny it costs. Click here to buy this book from Amazon.com. The Underground Guide to the SAT This book has edge. It was written by high school students and it definitely is very readable and contains many good prep tips for the SAT. They are very comprehensive, and contain good tips and plenty of practice questions. It doesn't have the "edge" of the Underground book described above, but it is very readable and effective, nonetheless. Click here to buy this book from Amazon.com

For additional, specific help for the math and verbal sections of the SAT, we highly recommend the Charles Gulotta books.

100 SAT Math Tips and How to Master Them Now! Great advice on how to approach the SAT math questions. This book covers all the tricks that the test uses to try to fool you. It will not teach you the math, however. It is very readable, well explained, and the cartoons are both humorous and helpful. This book will reduce any "math anxiety" you may have. Vocabulary tends to be the most concern for most test takers and this book will teach you the words the SAT is most likely to throw at you. Furthermore, it will teach you the similarly-sounded words that the SAT will also throw at you to trip you up. Humorous and helpful cartoons are also employed in this book.
